Bed Hopping

I've spent the past 3 nights roaming the house looking for somewhere quiet to sleep as MOTH has been replaced in bed by The Snoring Monster! His good old reliable Snorer's Friend mouth guard has given him a mouth ulcer, so he can't use it for a while & it's back to the bad old pre-SF days. And because I'm feeling so sleep-deprived & preoccupied with beds & bedrooms, please indulge me today.

  1. Your blog is wonderful and you're in a beautiful part of the world. My husband is a snorer too and I've come across a terrific aromatherapy remedy. A couple of drops on the pillow and no snoring. Hard to believe, I know..I'm more than happy to send you some to try if you like. It's made by a wonderful skincare shop in country Victoria. Rachaelx

  2. Millie~ Get the aromatherapy remedy from Rachael. Our sleep is far to important at this stage to go without... unless you can set up a sweet extra room for yourself for nights such as this... Sweet Dreams darlin'.

  3. What a fine array! The beautiful white and pale grey for me, please, but I'd be delighted to sleep in any of them.

  4. millie, you poor soul. steve is only a snorer when his allergies flare. rare, but it happens. when he wakes and finds me headed downstairs to escape, he leaps up and volunteers to go himself... because he wants to cozy up with the dog! (well, she is awfully cute...)

    hoping moth's ulcer heals quickly.

i'll take that modern green bed with the pink stripe bench. lovely.

  5. I heard that sewing a tennis ball in the back side of his boxers does the trick. Keeps him from sleeping on his back. Love the beds, I would be happy in each of them. Ear plugs might help. Love the European flare, thinking next house will have this flare. Rinsing with epsom salt water will help with the mouth. I'm sure he knows this being he is Doctor MOTH and all. :) Heidi

When I saw the heading Millie I did wonder......! If a cure is found for snoring Husbands a fortune will be made but hopping into all those gorgeous beds would have to help

  7. You poor thing. My dad used to sound like he was using a chainsaw.
These rooms are all very romantic, Millie. Are you trying to compensate for something? Most of beds have heads and feet which is quite interesting I think. Hopefully the ulcer will be gone soon. Gargling with salt water is supposed to help.

  8. Oh you poor thing Millie, there is nothing worse than having a bad night's sleep. I love image number 8, the bed, the window and the books, perfect for relaxing.

  9. Dear Mill's,
I'm afraid that it's the other way round in our house. I am the culprit when it comes to snoring. Yes, I admit it. I've tried all sorts of things and none of them work.I've just spent two days away with my oldest friend that I was at school with.We went to a spa and shared a room. She confirmed that I snored.!
I don't mind the fact that I snore. I sleep right through it !!!! haha.
Perhaps MOTH and I should go under hypnosis to be cured, or has he tried that ? Let's hope his ulcer gets better soon ! XXXX

  11. Hi Millie,

Three nights without sleep is not much good. Things then tend to go in a vicious circle. Love all the images today of beds. I tend to like beds with top and bottom bedheads, I think it finishes the bed off more. Hope things sort themselves out soon.
    Take care.

    All these bedrooms are fabulous.

Hope that you are having a great week

  13. The day someone comes up with a snoring remedy that actually works will be a great one indeed. I often have to trapse off to another room in the middle of the night. I have computer issues just now, so sadly,no blogging. Having to borrow VINs to get some comments away.Aaaaargh!

  14. Oh my Millie, Miss Millie,

    I know, I know, I know...

I think I may have mentioned my Andrew's snoring before and I was so excited as I thought you may have had a solution to this sleepy problem today.

All I ever want to do when I wake up now is go back to sleep. The thought of having a wonderful QUIET sleep in one of these beds is a dream come true.

What to do, you're so lucky to have other rooms and beds in your house to go to, I just don't have that luxury.

There has to be a cure out there somewhere.

    xx Coty

  16. I loved the third from the top one and the last one most of all. Sigh . . . lots of food for thought here. I am awful to sleep with, I can't even stand the sound of someone breathing. I have to wear earplugs in bed as Todd is not going to stop breathing just so I can get to sleep, and I'm not wanting him to!

  17. Dear Millie!!
I'm afraid I am the snorer in my house and I continually wake up the only person living there with my snoring!! ME.. haha.. yes.. I wake myself up!! I don't think I've been doing it lately... thank goodness... but also don't know the answer.. although It is obviously a physical symptom. Have you tried sending him to a Sleep Clinic!! One thing that would come of this is he would be out of the house for a few nights! haha.. you could get some good sleep in his absence!! Best of luck with this.. and the bedrooms you have chosen are gorgeous!! Love the yelllow with red in the first image!! xx Julie

  19. Hey Miss Millie,

Don't know if you know or not but I was doing a little blog 'surfing' and came across the blog 'Timeless Home' and on 19 of this month the author posted about your blog and in particular your story re: MOTH's elderly aunt's in Melbourne. It certainly struck a chord. Well done!! Hope you are tucked up in bed having a great nights sleep. See you in the morning.
    Take care.

  20. Sounds like a good excuse for some afternoon naps Millie. I have been waking up around 4am for the last couple days and the lack of sleep is killing me. Let me know if the aromatherapy remedy works.

  22. I just finished reading "A Happy MOTH" and came away grinning like a kid with his fist stuck in a can of chocolates.

I am happy, not over that, but because you showed up and gazed at our monster snowstorm and then had the courage to click your way out and get back home and post this delightful ditty before I got here and wallowed in the pastry recipes.

I love (did I spell that right?) L-O-V-E this blog. I really enjoyed this post. Can you imagine having this many choices of places to fall into bed at? If you got bedrooms like this there then I am going to consider a flight down under.

A cure for snoring is oxygen. Get him a bottle of oxygen and hook his nose up to that and that ends snoring. When you get up before he does, in the morning, to fix his bacon and eggs and toast with coffee breakfast, yank the thing out of his nose and let him entertain himself.

  23. Any one of these beds look the perfect place to sleep. I am so used to my snorer {our dog, Beau, who sleeps in his basket at the end of our room} that I am now immune to the snoring! Hope you find a beautiful place to rest. Love your blog, Lidy

  24. Oh Millie - the curse of the snorer! We have special snoring quarters in our house & the LAB is banished after two nights of no sleep (three maybe for good behaviour)! Luckily we have three storeys to the house (although my daughter says when she is at home she can still hear it through the floor) - you have my sympathy - I would love any of those beautiful bedrooms, preferably in another building though...x
