A Gypsy In My Garden

I have the perfect spot in our garden for one of these sweet gypsy caravans - down on our small meadow under the shady branches of the big old Oak. With the laurel hedge all along the side to act as natural wind break & these superb mild Summer days still upon us, it would the best way to wile away a weekend. Jeanne Bayol & Jean Marie Marechal produce these beauties in their home town of St. Remy de Provence at the foot of the glorious Alpilles mountains. A place that is also home to our dear friend & fellow traveller Vicki Archer.

I've had such a fun week here at The Hedge. I've laughed & laughed at your wonderful, witty comments. None more so than those of that most stylish & chic of blogger's Jane from My Pear Tree House, who likened herself to a drug dealer driving around Melbourne in her first car, a slinky black Celica!! And for those of you who finally came out of the Days of Our Lives closet, I'm glad that this little blog was able to facilitate that moment of liberation for you! Mystic Millie has looked onto her crystal ball & has only seen the happiest of weekends for you all.

  1. This post ignites the BOHO in me. You did have some silly things going on at the Hedge this week. Hope the Bonnie Hunt Doppelganger comment didn't offend you. You are one crazy woman, that's why I love ya. Have a great weekend. Heidi

  3. Ohhh... another perfect little abode to add to my collection of studio dreams. Wouldn't one of these in lots of bright colors be a fabulous backyard hide-out?

  4. Hi Miss Millie,

Yes today must be slightly better 'cause I have spelt your name right!! I have just gone back and read the comments yesterday and they are so funny...Have a wonderful weekend. I do pine for all of the blogs I follow during the week and will often feel destitute without you all posting of a weekend. Yes, I know I need to turn the computer OFF and leave it OFF over the weekend. Some weekends are better than others. Have a good one.

  6. Ha I love that caravan. Would love to be a gypsy. Not a wallet stealing, not very clean, hanging round at Hungarian train station gypsy but more a Stevie Nicks style bangle and jangle gypsy.

And I am so pleased the idea of me as a DD is so funny. Oh our misspent youth. xoxo

  14. Oh my goodness, I have just read Heidi's comment about being Bonnie Hunt's Doppelganger....she's absolutely right! And what a fabulous compliment by the way - Bonnie is one of those people who looks beautiful, but also warm and possessing of a wicked sense of humour. Just like you Millie, non?

Back to the gypsy wagon...I'm putting on my hoop earrings, wrapping a scarf around my ample hips and bringing the tribe down to live at the bottom of your garden, commune style. How's the broadband hook up in those wagons? Meredy xo.

  17. I truly believe there is gypsy blood running in my veins as with these other lovely women. There has to be, because of the thrill I get in seeing pictures such as these. I stumbled on the jeanne-bayol website and saw her gorgeous gypsy caravans some time back. Oh, how wonderful it would be to have one tucked away for a quiet creative escape. The thought of a free spirited woman full of life and passion, listening to her heart and chasing her dreams is one I hold dear. Thank you Millie for your inspiration each morning.

  18. I want one too! It would be huge in my garden, but it would give me an excuse to get rid of that eye sore of a trampoline!

The Bohemian in me loves it but as a geriatric Gypsy now, practicality counts. Could see me in one at the bottom of my garden, with my crystal ball!. xD

  22. Been looking for caravan renovations to be inspired. I think I have fallen in love with the romanticism this evokes! Not going to get me round the country though, sadly.
