Mix it up

Over the past few years as decorating trends have changed, it's been interesting to see how people are incorporating new looks into the fabric of some of the much-loved Victorian & Edwardian sandstone villas that Adelaide is so well-known for. Some have been a triumph, & well, quite frankly a number have been disasters!

However, this fabulous home in the inner eastern suburb of St. Peters definitely proves that if done right, the result is positively breathtaking. The Owners of this home are quite obviously big-time art lovers, & its fabulous to see how they have blended some really interesting pieces in & around the architecture of their villa.

Doesn't the main hallway have the wow factor! Just love that central tribal art piece.

Eclectic pieces, tribal art again, modern furnishings - all sit so comfortably with the stained glass door & wonderful original marble fire surround in the formal living room.

What an amazing painting! Just perfect as the single feature in this simple, but extremely functional kitchen space.

Modern pieces, gorgeous old settings, colourful works of art - all make up a warm & inviting casual dining area.

The master bedroom leading off that amazing hallway is stunning! The simple white backdrop allows the splash of red to just complete the look in dramatic style.

Again a great mix of the new with the old in the family room, complete with cellar surround.

A closer look at the master bedroom.

The spacious garden & pool area are dotted with interesting pieces of sculpture to complement the home's interior.

A side view of the property with a reflection pool.

The very traditional front exterior of this great old return verandah villa circa 1898.

  4. There's nothing like a beautiful Adelaide sandstone villa! Which I lived in one myself - as long as it had all the mod cons too.
