I'm hanging my head in shame dear Hedgies, it's been too, too long between posts. Some of you know that I started a new job in August & that it's been whirlwind. Still sales, but with a big, big clinical support focus. So I'm back to standing in Interventional Radiology suites all day, jostling for the size Medium lead, but most often or not, being left to swim in the XL's! The new knee has taken a while to acclimatize to the hard concrete floors & the additional weight of the lead, but it's a case of 'Suck it up Princess!'
MOTH is still amazed that at 57 I was offered the role & is still coming to grips with the cracking pace I need to set. He's in retirement mode & this job is anything but, so I feel a 'Summit' coming on to clarify a few 'Points of Order'. It was back to the books, lots of study & scary exams in the early days, now I'm out there on my lonesome, trying to stay cool in very challenging situations. Talk about getting out of my comfort zone!
So how are things in your world? I miss you all & will try to be a better blogger once things settle down a bit. The family are all good & baby Gracie, at 16 months, is walking around everywhere. The kids are going through the usual moving house, overseas jaunts, job indecisions/job excitement stuff. They have been very neglected by their Mother, who has plummeted to the bottom of everyone's Christmas card list. It's that time of year when MOTH is fast morphing into the Grumpy Grinch - ba humbug & all that jazz. I did manage to chuck a few Chrissie decorations up last Sunday, so that set him off big time!
Tonight we are having dinner with 2 of my favourite bloggie chums, David & Peter from Willowbrook Park.www.willowbrookpark.blogspot.com.au who are in town for a Conference. It marks the start of the Christmas Party season, so time to roll out the pretty frocks, but sadly not the sky high heels for me this year. Much love to you all, it's the weekend dear Hedgies, so go enjoy!
Hi Millie,

So pleased the new job (and the knee) are working out well. All good here. Just the same ol' same ol'. Just finished putting up the tree so Christmas has descended here too.

Hi Millie - So nice to see you back in blogging action. Thanks for your recent visit---I know how busy you are with work these days so your comment was much appreciated! I have thought of you often when scrolling down my blog list--it is good to know your family is well. Hopefully you will be able to take a break over Christmas (?).

Lovely to hear your clear voice again Millie - although it sounds like it has been one heck of a hectic year for you. You truly are unstoppable: beginning a new job, the new knee, etc.: very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHello, you! Thanks for the update :) Glad you all are well. Enjoy your family and the holidays ahead, Millie.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Loi
Oh Millie, I am so proud of you. What you've describe as your new role is mind boggling to me and you ARE doing it! You are pulling it off. It is a huge complement of your abilities, smarts and your past accomplishments and you make every over 50 gal out there tip their hat to you. You are our unsung hero! So, if you post once a year that's good enough for me as I know you have mountains to climb out there and that's with a new knee. So, I hope get a few moments for yourself through this journey and take care of you. Gracie will say, I've got one inspiring Grandma!

Where do I begin? Wow! I am so glad to not see that picture of chief with the egg over his eye on my blog roll, for more than one reason. It's the same old thing here in Texas, now it is cold and wet and I found myself stuck in a ditch yesterday after hydroplaning into a flat spin, crossing the median onto oncoming traffic and back into the ditch, untouched, only stuck in the mud and one extremely lucky girl. I'm SO ready for a long vacation in your neck of the woods. For the time being I will continue to tweak my Aussie trip itinerary and work on my house reno. I knew you were as busy as a honey bee in a clover patch. The lesson that I have been learning through all of this is patients. Dang life lessons. I look forward to the day when I can have a beachy Christmas and Birthday in the Summer sun. Take care you two. Happy Thanksgiving from Texas and kiss that baby for me. Heidi
