The Giubbilei Look

Luciano Giubbilei is one of London's most in-demand Garden Designers. Known for his sharp minimalist style, he designs gardens as interiors for the outside. Blending the classical with the contemporary, he favours crisp order & geometry with designs that feature immaculate square lawns, rows of neatly structured hedges, clipped trees & clean shapes. You won't see flowers or colourful perennial borders in any of Luciano's gardens.

Originally from Tuscany, he moved to London on the suggestion of his English girlfriend to study at the renown Inchbald School of Garden Design. He's inspired by Italian and French Renaissance gardens & the modern formality of American landscape architect the late Dan Kiley. He calls himself an interior designer for the outdoors - an Exterior Designer. For those interested, Luciano's gardens start from 100,00 pounds. While not many of us could afford a total Luciano garden make-over, or the on-going care these high-maintenance gardens would demand, (& I for one would miss my Lilies too much), there are many inspirational ideas to be gleaned from these projects.

  1. I love his work- and what he does with foliage, and oh the boxwood!
I too would miss a little splash of color here and there-perhaps tucked into an intimate corner. These images are fabulous. It's fun to imagine what Luciano could do with our homes. $$$

  2. What beautiful gardens, Millie. Just last night, I was reading about the gardens at Sissinghurst Castle, created by Vita Sackville-West and Sir Harold Nicholson (apparently restoring this garden kept their marriage together in between her passionate affairs with other women). Many of the gardens were designed as outdoor rooms, apparently the White Garden alone, is magnificent. I think I might learn more and do a post about it. But, I'm wondering if their White Garden has your beloved lillies? I'll get back to you. Meredy xo.

  3. Beautiful, beautiful gardens Mill's. I love the topiary and box hedges, although I would miss my flowers too..... BUT, I think I'll get him to do my front and back garden....that's after I win the lottery of course. XXXX

  4. Thanks for posting about this Millie. These gardens are perfection to look at! Having said that, I think, given my compulsion to have everything perfectly straight, maintaining a garden like this would be a full time job. I once worked in a gift shop and every spare minute was taken up making sure the greeting cards were in perfectly straight lines, nearly drove myself mad!
My most recent post is on the Italian gardens in our estate which I love.

  5. Divine greenery. Here of course major issue would be keeping the damn plants alive. And oh dear the trimming. I do love that structured look. And the pleached trees. Divine.

  8. Beautifully minimalist MIllie! I wish I could show you the gardens on the Estate where I live. They are breathtakingly beautiful any time of the year. It takes two full time gardeners to take care of them.

  9. These are stunning Millie - and with some roses somewhere, it would be perfection! I love those pleached trees!! And, if the gardens start at this price, I'm just wondering if you can get us inside some of these homes for a wee look too! Imagine... xx

  11. I still prefer my slightly unruly gardens to those of Versailles. My jardinier is really cute too ;-) Very pretty though.

  13. Absolute dream gardens, especially here in Hervey Bay where it has been extremely dry for months, all that green. Love it all.
