The beginning of Week 3 in my new job sees me flying off to Melbourne for the week. It's the Company's mid-year Sales Meeting & that means only one thing - more rooms of complete strangers to walk into! I long for the return of my comfort zone - it's beeen AWOL & I want it back! May this week bring fun & happiness to you all & see you on the weekend. Image: The Age
Safe and happy travels Millie, I hope my old home town provides lots of enjoyment, - we are about to check out of Langham luxury heading to London, thanks for the HK tips! A couple of tips for you in Melbourne, Cutler & Co for dinner, MOO for groovy drinks venue after work.
My sister used to tell her daughter not to talk to strangers to which her daughter replied, 'everyone is a stranger until you take the time to talk to them'. You will get to know them, one stranger at a time.
I can so understand how you're feeling at the moment Millie, but I'm sure, give it a little more time, and it will all feel familiar and less challenging. I would find it so hard to walk into that room of strangers, but somehow I see you as being totally in control. And I'm so proud of you for 'coming out'. Those guys don't know the power of blogging, or the friendships it inspires, and as we all know, they're the ones missing out. Hope your week goes well. Hope MOTH copes with the new baby. Bet she's sleeping on your bed! xx
Oh Mill's, I can remember that feeling of starting a new job ..... new people to try and get on with ..... everything feeling strange and unfamiliar. .....but, I'm sure, before too long, you will be feeling much more secure and comfortable about it all and it will feel as if you've been there for years. .....and, many, many congratulations on 700 posts !! That is AMAZING, especially with a full time job. Take no notice of those old fogies !! I think that people are a little envious. I get friend's ribbing me about my blog and poking fun at it and then they say that they wouldn't know how to do it !! The best part has been meeting such lovely people who make me laugh and think about things. I used to love having a pen friend when I was at school and this is the modern version of a pen friend. Here's to your next 700 posts and long may you reign. XXXX
Hang in there Mills. You'll be right. I don't know who the twit was who said 'a change is as good as a holiday,' but a change is still good for the soul. xxx We're all rootin' for ya!
Millie, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your lovely comment on my blog, I'm truely blessed to have such lovely blogging friends and I hope one day sooner than later we get to meet in person xxxx
Life in the little village of Stirling in the hills above Adelaide in South Australia is just about as good as it gets! Enjoying a cool climate and 'hill-station' feel, Stirling is well-known for its 19th-century stone villas set on large grounds dense with roses, camellias, rhododendrons and huge old Oaks.
With 3 sons, 3 grandchildren & my work in a scientific business dominated by yes, more men, The Laurel Hedge was born out of my sheer desperation for something the boys just don't get & never will!
Quote This!
'No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it all too seriously.'
15 years of renovating was over - we'd just completed everything & were really enjoying our lovely old Victorian villa in the Eastern suburbs of Adelaide. However we'd always had a fondness for the country life & without warning we found ourselves transported by alien beings disguised as Real Estate Agents to a house on 1/2 acre of wild, rambling gardens in Stirling!
The house is circa 1972 & with all the 70's features. Open-faced brown brick walls, raked ceilings, exposed beams, split levels - totally yuk! However, it's inherent design is great & the location amazing - tucked behind a wonderful old laurel hedge in a quiet country lane in the heart of gorgeous Stirling.
I hope it's a wonderful week for you!
ReplyDeleteMay the strange faces soon become the ones of friends! I know they are loving you! :)
