Love this transformation of a not so pretty run-down 1930's caretaker's house on a 17 acre farm in Connecticut into the cutest little cottage. The Owners are currently living here while restoring the historic farmhouse elsewhere on the property. Once that task is complete, this cottage will become the guest house. My favourite detail is the new sun-room on the eastern side of the the building.

I love little, quaint homes. One day I shall move into one. We often buy our homes as a symbol of our station, so builders will always go for bigger, greater, gigantemous... Dreaming of a cottage lifestyle someday...
ReplyDeletewow, I sure would live there... thanks for the lovely photos.
ReplyDeletewould say that this little guest cottage is just perfection. Now I'd like to see the main house!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Millie, What a wonderful transformation into a charming cottage. They added so much old charm with the porch, the white clapboards, the second story...so very nice and classic. xoTrina
ReplyDeleteStunning! Also love that round wood fire holder on the wrap-around veranda.

ReplyDeleteHi Millie,
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing the before and after photo's here. The owner have done such an amazing job, anytime I see something like this I wonder if I ever had the chance to do something like this, would I be able to pull it off this well!!??!! Very classical, love upstairs, the sunroom and verandah. Hope you are enjoying your day.
Take care.

Oh my, what a gorgeous transformation! They did such a great job, I love seeing such potential brought out for all to see. That sunroom has beautiful windows, I can imagine the light in there would be heavenly! Not to be nosey.. but I really want to see that barn off to the side now...

Wow, what a gorgeous transformation! Very cute! Tracey xx
ReplyDeleteDear Mill's,
ReplyDeleteIt's so refreshing to see a more modest home in blogland. I get a bit fed up with seeing luxurious, over-the-top type homes that, not many of us can afford, which are often quite sterile and impersonal, wheras this has character and a soul and looks wonderful. A truly glorious restoration. XXXX
Millie - your recent posts suggest a hankering to move to further pastures... Are these hints to MOTH about quitting down under? Or to move the renos along at a 'more appropriate' pace?
ReplyDeletewhat an incredible transformation is this! absolutely great. I love the new house..
ReplyDeleteOh, I would move in here in a heartbeat, I love it! Such character and charm.

ReplyDeleteHello! I love the porch. I have a story and a half house that sits the same way on the lot. I wanted to make an addition on the front but could not figure out how to make it look right. The way the porch extends past the sunroom could be the perfect solution. Would you please tell me how deep the porch is? I would be forever grateful.....
