I really like this house in Armadale a lovely suburb of Melbourne, but I'm really wondering what the deal is with those light shades. Could it have been a Job Lot, maybe buy 6 get 6 free? I think they're a Villa Maison (Riviera Maison) product, so maybe they were all bought on Sale. I think if I was the new Owner, I'm not sure how long I could hang out before calling for reinforcements from the Light Brigade to do a bit of a purge!
They are here.....
.....and here.....and here
.....and here
.....and here
.....but not here
.....or here!

I adore the fresh clean whiteness.
ReplyDeleteYes I have to be honest - I don't think those light shades work at all. It is a lovely space. It looks like a lobster fisherman has invaded and thrown all his pots at the roof and they have stuck.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, it sort of looks like an alien invasion. I agree, too much.
ReplyDeleteLovely house but you're right Millie it is a bit strange. It looks like a collection of helium balloons in baskets all trying to float to the top of the house. Leigh
ReplyDeleteI looked at the first picture and thought what a great room, shame about the lampshades, but how am I going to tell Millie, then was pleased to read your text. Then when I scrolled down...GOD...How many do they need...they're like rabbits, breeding.
ReplyDeleteTake them all out ( well, leave one as a reminder ) and it is a beautiful place...it just goes to show that you can have too much of a bad thing. XXXX
That is a little funny. They must really LOVE those lights.
ReplyDeleteToo much of a good thing! Way too much!
ReplyDeleteWow, they sure do like them there lights ;) MB
ReplyDeleteKnow waht you mean....overkill.
ReplyDeletenice house though.
cheers
THis home takes my breath away and it bothers me at the same time. It looks like wicker trash cans hanging from the ceiling. This one will be famous for all the wrong reasons I'm afraid. Heidi
ReplyDeleteTalk about overkill! The three over the kitchen bench look great but then when they pop up in just about every other room, well it gets a bit boring. I think you're right. Job lot on sale.
ReplyDeleteI know lighting selection in Australia is not the best ( getting better) but there is still more to choose from.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise fantastic house.

Well I wondered what you meant at first because I quite liked them in the first photo - but then they went on and on, and I'm with Jane - they do look like crayfish pots stuck to the roof!
ReplyDeleteOver-kill for sure! they must have been free I think! The rest of the house is lovely though, so maybe they just ran out of imagination.

Oh dear!!! Someone needs to have a quiet word. Talk about overdoing it!
ReplyDeleteMmmm it is a lovely space, but the lightshades take over and are too heavy. It's strange that they are everywhere too.

Hi Millie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home. but what's with the lobster pots.. hehe maybe they sold their fishing business to pay for the house and had no money left over for lighting. One [only] outdoors might of looked good. Had to laugh as I scrolled down and there was more and more. x JUlie
I so agree, lovely house minus the lights. Otherwise, fresh and inviting.
ReplyDeleteI love everything except all the crazy wicker light shades. A couple would have been fine but a whole house?!?
ReplyDeleteWhite is cool and all the furniture apart from those lamps.
ReplyDeleteNaaahhh--- for me it looks like beehives all around.
Yeah!, pls call the lightbrigade, Lady? The owner is ruining the design and the ambiance of their beautiful home.
SOrry for my critics... but that's straight from my heart.
Hugs on a beautiful week & week-end soon.
xo,

oh what a shame, that's such a gorgeous gorgeous home. I would feel like they were about to attack me...I wouldn't mind one maybe and that's a big maybe** but good grief that is a positive swarm of baskets.
ReplyDeleteHi Millie,
ReplyDeleteI am with you there.
They look like wicker rubbish baskets.
Beautiful home though.
Hugs
Carolyn
love this house! although i'm with Jane that the light shades are overkill...but other than that this is beautiful australian architecture and decoration!
ReplyDeleteI think I've seen this exact shade at IKEA. It's called Leran and retails starts at $59 for the 29cm version, going up to $139 for the 60cm version...part of the blurb claims that 'each shade is unique'...hmmm
ReplyDeleteCatherine(not the one with the blog)
Hilarious post!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous, classic home! I actually really like the lights, but the three over the kitchen island would have been enough!
ReplyDeleteGreat house! But I totally agree... too much of a good thing! Several over the island ONLY! would have looked great!
