The weather here in the Hills has turned Autumnal, with a real chill in the air. As I live in boots for at least 9 months of the year, it's time to start my annual pilgrimage to find a couple of new pairs for the season ahead. Although MOTH can never understand why I can't stretch last year's out to another year. When not in his work Blunnies he lives in his RM's, his current favourite pair were bought just after we met 16 years ago. He'll quite happily tell everyone who queries the state of them & that they may be due for retirement, 'Don't be silly, I've just broken 'em in'! Any favourite boot stories from the Hedgies?
I bought a beautiful pair of boots a few years ago when we lived in Adelaide, and wore them almost every day of the 2 years we were there. When we moved back to Brisbane, they found a home in the back of my cupboard...i took them out one chilly day and wore them, but by lunch time I regret to say my lovely boots just had to come off...I long for a cold Adelaide day to visit us just once in Brisbane so that I can wear my lovely boots just once for the whole day!
ReplyDeleteI love boots. My story is too long and detailed to tell, I'm afraid. But it does hurt when you have to throw them away because you know that you will keep on wearing them if you don't. Love ya, Heidi
ReplyDeleteFrom one boot lover to another - YUM! and I'm jealous. Boot season is coming to an end here ... Waaah.

Millie...I got a great pair of Cole Haan black leather equestrian boots this year...brand new at a thrift store for $55.00. It's nearly time to put them away since I am on the opposite side of the globe. Friday is the official first day of Spring and you are going into fall. Happy shopping. ♥Rosemary
ReplyDeleteI love boots and will soon have to put them away. I have high, black riding boots and blunnies in black and brown and wear those A LOT! Black leather UGGS for really cold weather! You can never have too many.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to sandles and flip-flops though.
Now that's something I don't get to wear for that long here on the coast...my boots!!! Find I only need them for about 2 months...such a change from living in the country Millie. And my RM's are 12 years old now, reckon they'll go for another 12 at this rate...Dzintra
ReplyDeleteMy current favourites are my Hunter wellies - just the perfect thing for walking in the early morning frost and on those wet Highland days. Love 'em!
ReplyDeleteI bought a pair of black RM seconds from the Prospect shop many years ago...and wore them to death. Had them resoled a number of times. So comfy, no real heel to speak of - I don't need it at my height - and so easy to pull on and off. I decided one year to turf them out and now I regret it!
ReplyDeleteAs a thank you for all inspirational posts I have nominated you as a top ten favourite blog on Living Art & Interiors!
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes,
Oh I just can't wait for the weather to turn "autumnal" in Brisbane! I have a favourite pair of boots which I only get to wear for about 3 weeks a year! Tracey xx
ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to work for RM Williams for four years, and made some fantastic friends as a result. It was such a treat to keep my 'country roots' when my family moved to Adelaide. I saw some very old yet very loved boots in my time working there. I still have a number of RM's in my cupboard, a reminder how lucky I was to work for an Australian company and recieve a lot of their quality products free of charge as part of my 'uniform'!!
ReplyDeleteHowever, my best boot story involves a pair of knee high Witchery boots bought at their seconds store on Bridge Road in Melbourne. That was about five years ago, beautiful black leather, lined. Half price because they were the last pair (the joy of having very small feet) - unfortunately despite many re heels etc they went to the 'shoe cupboard in the sky' at the end of last season. I hope to find a pair to share such a long lasting relationship with when I go boot shopping this season (and fingers crossed my new pair are an awesome bargain also!) xx
Boots are like bags Millie - you can never have enough. My latest boot purchase was a pair of uggs (is that how you spell it?) Ok so they look disastrous on me but oh, they are so warm. I wander around the farm in them, pick olives in them and write in them - that is me a 'style' queen!! xv
ReplyDeleteNo good story other than I love, love boots! I'm with Rachael I have to blast the car air-conditioning on my feet and drink loads of water so I don't dehydrate wearing boots in Qld temperatures, but let me reassure you in the name of fashion I wear them with a good dose of antipersperant on my feet all winter long! xx
ReplyDeletethis is great !
