The Fabric of Life

My challenge to find The Emperor's New Bed yesterday was successful to a point. I know what style upholstered headboard I'm going to get for our bedroom & the new Guest Room, now I just have to decide on the fabric. My dear friend Char @ Richfields loaded me up with a stack of fabric samples she knew I'd like, so now I need to run them past The Emperor & get the royal nod. I've narrowed it down to a Toiles De Mayenne or a stunner from Hodsoll McKenzie. The contrast will be provided by the new bed linen & accessories, & my head's spinning with the possible combinations - & for a boring scientific-type that's very unusual! I was totally smitten with a Manuel Canovas print 'Junko', but would need to sell MOTH & the boys to the Siberian Salt Mines to pay for it.

  6. Lovely selection Millie
And that new source at the end of your post is fabulous. The 'Miss Millie' range. Certainly the best in the lot. Well poor MOTH. Dethroned for the want of some bounty. Have a great week. x Julie [in Australia]

  7. Love the colour palette Millie. Not sure with a messy husband and a rambunctious border collie that I could get by with so many white and light colours in my home, but I do love to look at yours.

  8. Preliminary groundwork looking good...love a bit of neutral....shame that 'Junko' wasn't a 'junko' price...not to worry...pricey isn't always the nicest....good luck on your quest.XXXX

  12. Loving the upholstered bedhead - I have just ordered one myself for my new bedroom and it has an upholstered bedhead in a Warwick fabric called cambria - similar to what you are looking at. Hope the right fabric jumps out at you and says "pick me, pick me". Leanne

  13. Hi Millie
Good luck on your quest. I've been up the ladder for two days painting (not the family room but my dining room, store room and powder room) on my days off. Still got along way to go. Husband will help on the weekend. It makes me wonder after a hard day why am I doing this? Most off my friends never both with there homes other than keeping them clean and tidy are they happier they certainly don't ache like I do. Forgot to ask where did you find those beautiful drum light shades in your lounge.
    Kind Regards
    Karen

  15. Karen I feel your pain! Halfway through the massive painting job here I had retire 'injured' with the worst tendonitis of my right elbow. It took a number of excruitating intrarticular injections & weeks of physio to fix. No sympathy from MOTH though -he told everyone I'd gone soft!

The drum shades were chosen by MOTH (I had to concede to get something else!) & were bought from good 'ol Beacon Lighting. Happy painting.
    Millie ^_^

  17. I'm envious, there's nothing quite like the fun of putting together a lovely fabric story, especially in a bedroom. Enjoy. xx

  19. Love your choices Millie! I'm looking at similar colors/fabrics for our master bedroom also!
I'm thinking it's lucky that MOTH and the boys are such hard working chaps... they'll do just fine at the Salt Mines:)! Think of all the practical jokes using salt they'll be able to think of, all the while you'll be lounging in your beautiful Junko bed!!;)
